Our Mission with Projects
Mission Statement: By providing hands-on experiences for our club members, we enrich their educational outcomes at CSULB. Furthermore, our projects give members the opportunity to develop their practical and technical skills by working with other team members to design, construct, and execute ideas.
FREE
FREE (“Freshmen Retention in Electrical Engineering”) is intended to introduce incoming students to the field of Electrical Engineering & the fundamental principles that will be taught in class.
Projects are beginner/intermediate-level to help students understand the process thoroughly.
Students will be trained by our highly-qualified FREE Mentors.
Requirements:
-
No experience needed
-
Attend FREE Meetings every week for a total of 6 weeks
-
Project Kit will be determined during 1st FREE Meeting
If interested, please join our Discord.
SOPHEE
SOPHEE (“Sophomores in Electrical Engineering”) will build on the knowledge and skills students acquired during their freshman year
The project done in SOPHEE will be determined during the first meeting.
Students will be trained by our highly-qualified SOPHEE Mentors.
Requirements:
-
Programming Experience (Ex: C++, Java, etc…)
-
Circuit Analysis and Building skills (Ex: soldering, breadboarding, etc..)
-
Project Parts will be determined during 1st SOPHEE Meeting, usually involves an Arduino Microcontroller
If interested, please join our Discord.
Micromouse
Micromouse is a state-wide, university-level competition, where teams of students are tasked to build a small robot that is capable of exploring, mapping, and racing through a maze.
Building a micromouse involves a lot of hardware (Sensors, Controls, Microcontroller etc.) & software (Mapping Algorithm).
Beyond the technical skills, students who are involved will gain valuable skills like time management, teamwork, and communication.
Requirements:
-
Eagerness and willingness to try and learn new technical skills
-
Ability to communicate and be a team player
-
Project experience isn’t a must but still good to have
-
A lot of time is needed for this project so please understand this is a commitment
Applications are usually sent out on our Discord Channel, at the beginning of the semester. If interested, please join our Discord.
