It is no secret that the Cape Town sun can be very challenging to bear and even under a gazebo, it’s heat could not be avoided. From the 3rd to the 5th of February, over 75 UCT Societies and Clubs congregated under their stall to present themselves to the vast student body in an attempt to get them to join their clubs. This year, we were fortunate to have a stall as well in order to try and get members to join either for the first time or to have current members renew their subscription.

Tonderai looks on as a new member signs up to the society.

The station was manned by the 2020 committee and who excellently managed to work well enough to achieve 51 sign ups! This being the first of our membership drive activities, 51 is not a bad starting point. It was clear to see that the committee for the year is dedicated to the job because even when their shifts were over, they would hang around the gazebo, speaking to more students, passing out flyers and finally getting some students to join.

Solar Robot that was on display to attract the attention of passerby students.

A final report will be released of the successes of this drive in the coming weeks after our Opening Event which will be held on the 12th of February 2020.
