Chairperson: Sadia Khaf
Sadia received the Bachelors in Electrical Engineering degree from the National University of Sciences and Technology, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (NUST-SEECS), Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2015. She received a Master’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2018. She served as a Lecturer at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI), Pakistan from 2019 to 2020. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate at École de technologie supérieure, Canada.
Vice-Chairperson: Ilshat Sagitov
Ilshat received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Kazan National Research Technical University, Kazan, Russia, and Master’s degree in Information Technologies from the University of Stuttgart, Germany. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS), Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His research interests are Error-correction codes for Wireless Communication and their Hardware implementation.
Secretary: Kanika Aggarwal
Kanika received the B.Tech and M.tech degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 2012 and 2015 respectively, from Kurukshetra University, India. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at École de Technologie supérieure (ÉTS), Université du Québec, Montréal, Canada. Her research interests include Radio Resource Management, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Ultra-reliable Low-latency communications.
Director Marketing: Joel Poncha Lemayian
Poncha received the B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara Turkey, and the M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Antalya Bilim University (ABU) in Antalya Turkey. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Ecole de Technologie Superieure (ÉTS), Montreal Canada, researching efficient proof of work for Internet of Things (IoT).
Director Public Relations: Elie Sfeir
Elie received the B.E. and M.S. degrees in computer and communications engineering from Lebanese University, Lebanon, in 2016. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in Wireless Communications Engineering with Ecole de Technologie Superieure, Montreal, Canada.
Director Events: Aroosa Hameed
Aroosa received a B.S. degree in Information Technology from the University of Gujrat (UoG), Pakistan, in 2015. She received an MPhil degree in Computer Science from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan in 2018. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Dept. of Software and Information Technology Engineering, École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS), Université du Quebec, Montreal, Canada. Her research interests include the Internet of Things (IoT) traffic analytics, IoT services, machine learning, and IoT security.
Treasurer: Mohammed Farouk Nakmouche
Mohammed Farouk Nakmouche was born in Laghouat, Algeria, in 1992. He received the BSc. and MSc degrees in Telecommunication Systems and Networks Engineering from the Department of Electronic Engineering at Amar Telidji University of Laghouat, Algeria, in 2013 and 2015, respectively, and now he is doing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at ETS. He is an energetic and creative researcher/engineer with 6 years of experience in RF/microwave/antenna engineering and 3 years in the machine learning field. His area of research includes antenna, Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS), and metasurfaces design methodology and performance optimization utilizing machine learning and heuristic algorithms for various applications and using different technologies such as Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW), Ridge Gap Waveguide (RGW), and Additive Manufacturing (AM). Mohammed Farouk Nakmouche has been involved in various international projects in France, Turkey, Egypt, Taiwan, and now Canada that helped him to build a very comprehensive knowledge and expertise with CST Microwave Studio, Ansys HFSS, and Keysight ADS in the design and modeling of antennas, filters, and couplers (from VHF to the mm-wave band).
