Chairperson: Maverick (Sadia Khaf) 

Maverick (they/them), formerly Sadia Khaf, is an electrical engineer with a B.E. from NUST-SEECS and an M.S. from Bilkent University. They are a Ph.D. candidate at École de Technologie supérieure, Montreal, focusing on beyond 5G networks and reinforcement learning.

As the youngest and only born-female faculty member at GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Pakistan’s top engineering university, Maverick made significant contributions as a lecturer and researcher. They are currently Chair IEEE ETS, Treasurer IEEE Women in Engineering Montreal, and Vice-regional student representative for IEEE Canada.

Maverick was instrumental in founding SAYA School in Pakistan, which addresses child labor by compensating families for lost wages, enabling child laborers to attend school. They also lead initiatives for blood donation drives, flood relief, and IDP rescue and relief works related to the war against terrorism in Pakistan in 2014.

Their honours include the IEEE Women in Engineering Prize, P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship, FRQNT scholarship, ÉTS bourse de implication, ÉTS Palmarès féminin pluriel, and first prize in the three-minute thesis (3MT) competition. They also won the firs place among 70,000 students in national competitive exams in 2005, 2008, and 2010.

Vice-Chairperson: Amardip Kumar Singh

Amardip Kumar Singh is a PhD candidate at the Department of Electrical Engineering, École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS), where he has been conducting research since January 2020. His work focuses on optimizing Federated Learning (FL) models within Open Radio Access Networks (O-RAN) for cutting-edge telecommunications. Amardip holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) and a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Mathematics from Presidency University, Kolkata, and a Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Computer Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Beyond his academic pursuits, he is passionate about oral history and served as a story scholar for The 1947 Partition Archive

Secretary: Fatemeh Hosseini

Fatemeh is a Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering at École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS), specializing in dynamic analysis and online path correction of coordinated robots. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, the leading industrial university in Iran. Throughout her academic journey, Fatemeh has been an active member of the academic community. She contributed to the 18th International Mechanical Engineering Conference (ISME) as a member of the executive team and served as the Chairwoman of the Education Committee in several mechanical industrial festivals.

Director of Logistics: Ali Karevan

Ali earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Industrial Engineering between 2010 and 2017. Before starting his PhD at École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in 2022, Ali worked as an Industrial Engineering Manager and Planning Consultant, where he focused on optimizing processes and managing risks.
Currently, Ali is pursuing his PhD, specializing in risk management for hybrid and complex manufacturing industries and exploring the implementation of Industry 5.0. He is also an active member of the ÉTS community, volunteering as the Logistics Director for the Congrès Annuel des Étudiants Chercheurs (CAec).

Yosr - Yosr Takouti

Director of Media and Photography: Yosr Takouti

Yosr Takouti is a Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc) student at École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) specializing in computer graphics, particularly in character animation and contact-rich performance capture and a graduate researcher at INS Québec. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) from the Higher School of Communication of Tunis (Sup’Com).In addition to her academic and research pursuits, she has been actively engaged as a mentor and ambassador for both ÉTS and Mitacs for the past two years. Her leadership experience extends to her tenure as Vice President of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) in Tunisia, where she served for three years.

I believe my extensive experience in organizing a diverse range of events, including scientific conferences and sports competitions, equips me with the necessary skills to excel in the role of Director Marketing at IEEE ETS. Over the years, I have honed my abilities to effectively plan, coordinate, and execute events, ensuring smooth operations and optimal outcomes. My adaptability and knack for managing logistical challenges make me well-equipped to handle the responsibilities involved in maintaining IEEE ETS social media pages, promoting events through official channels, reserving venues, coordinating resources, and liaising with vendors. I am enthusiastic about leveraging my expertise to contribute positively to the success of IEEE ETS and its initiatives.

I had a good experience in IEEE student branches before in my bachelors. I have been chairman of IEEE Iran section KNTU student branch in 2020-2021 and also I have been member of Iran section young professional in 2 consecutive years.
My team and I held many inside and international events, webinars, and workshops during the time that I have been in the KNTU student branch and we became the best student branch of the Iran section at the end of my 2 year period of being chairman of the student branch.
