On 14th June, 2024, at 14:00, Dr. Qianwen Xu delivered an insightful talk on AI and Digitalisation as Enablers of the Clean Energy Transition. The event was hosted by Professor Xiao-Ping Zhang, Counsellor of the IEEE Student Branch at the University of Birmingham. Prof. Zhang warmly welcomed the attendees and introduced Dr. Xu to the audience.

Dr. Xu’s presentation focused on how AI can address challenges in renewable energy integration, power converter integration, and grid balance maintenance. She discussed the effective coordination of the grid to enhance renewable energy integration while ensuring grid security. Additionally, Dr. Xu highlighted the role of AI in power converter-led grid modeling and safe deep reinforcement learning for grid control to improve performance.

The participants actively engaged in questions and discussions, contributing fresh ideas and innovative perspectives to the workshop. Dr. Xu patiently answered their questions and shared her valuable insights, making the event highly interactive and enriching for all attendees.
