The University of Birmingham IEEE Student Branch (PES Chapter) had their Annual General Meeting on 2nd February 2024 from 13.00 – 15:00 pm (GMT) at University of Birmingham. The event was attended by 20 participants, including 5 academic staff.

After the welcome and event opening announcement, Mr. Rabee Jibrin, the student branch Chair, gave an annual report of the student branch in 2023, including introducing the student branch, the student activities, a financial and statistics review.

Subsequently, Prof Xiao-Ping Zhang, the counselor of UoB IEEE Student Branch and the Professor of the School of Engineering at the University of Birmingham, gave a presentation about the history of the student branch and gave an encouraging speech.

Dr Daniel Donaldson, the past-chair and the advisor of the UoB IEEE Student Branch PES Chapter, gave a presentation on various upcoming IEEE conferences, emphasizing that IEEE can provide a quality platform for IEEE members.

The officer election immediately followed. All the candidates are invited to give a brief introduction to themselves and introduce their future plan when taking the responsibilities of the new role. The newly elected committee members for 2024-2025 were then elected by a vote, with results as shown below:

• Chair: Mr. Zixuan Jia.
• Vice-Chair: Ms. Yixin Li, Mr. Chengyi Wu.
• Secretary: Mr. Shuailong Dai.
• Treasurer: Mr. Shangyuan liu.
• Women in Power Officer: Ms. Yixin Li.
• Event Coordinator and Publicity Officer: Ms. Shukurat Bankole 
• Webmaster: Mr. David Li
