Detailed descriptions of this event:

The University of Birmingham IEEE Student Branch (IEEE SB) is part of IEEE Region 8, also, is one of the most vitality and influential branches at the University of Birmingham. The University of Birmingham IEEE SB regularly organizes events and conferences, including keynotes, workshops and student paper contests. Recently, the IEEE SB at the University of Birmingham will be holding a competition for local students. The competition consists of two sections: session 1 is IEEE R8 student paper contest and session 2 is open student presentation competition.

This is a rare opportunity for different level students. Early research activities at the undergraduate, master and PGR level allow students to develop professionally and personally in ways not possible through traditional lectures, and this experience can be extremely valuable for students and their future careers. By combining the two sessions in one event, we can increase the academic exchange between students at different stages and will expand the reach of the University of Birmingham IEEE student branch.

  • Session 1: Student Paper Contest Rules

  5. Papers should cover technical and engineering aspects of a subject reasonably within or related to the areas with which the IEEE is concerned with.
  6. The work need not be original in engineering content but should be original in treatment and concise in coverage of the author’s contribution to the subject.
  7. The paper must be typewritten on A4 size paper (210 mm × 297 mm), with the text width equal to 183 mm and the text height equal to 243.5 mm; a font size of 10 pt or larger should be used.
