University of Birmingham IEEE Student Branch and PES Chapter will be co-hosting an event: 3-Minute Poster Presentation Competition. Details are shown below.

Title: MSc Power Systems students 3-Minute Poster Presentation Competition

Time & Date: 10:30 am- 11:30 am on the 26th April 2024

Venue: Room UG05 – Murray Learning Centre.

If you would like to submit your poster and participate in the competition, please leave a note ‘I would like to submit a poster‘ in the ‘Special Request’ in the Registration Page and then the organizer will contact you about how to submit” (Please refer to the graph below).

Assessment Criteria for contestants

  • Poster Design and Layout (10 points): Is the layout of the poster visually appealing and logically organized? Are the fonts, colors, and graphics used appropriately to enhance readability and comprehension? Does the design effectively capture the attention of the audience?
  • Clarity of Presentation (10 points): Is the poster visually appealing and well-organized? Are the text, diagrams, and illustrations easy to read and understand? Does the presenter effectively convey the main points of the poster?
  • Engagement and Delivery (10 points): Does the presenter engage the audience and maintain their interest throughout the presentation? Is the delivery confident, enthusiastic, and articulate? Does the presenter effectively use body language and vocal variety to enhance the presentation?
  • Content Relevance (10 points): Does the poster address key concepts and issues related to electrical power systems? Are the content and message clear and concise within the 3-minute timeframe? Does the presenter demonstrate a solid understanding of the topic?
  • Technical Accuracy (10 points): Are the technical details and information presented accurate and up to date? Does the presenter demonstrate a deep understanding of the technical aspects of electrical power systems? Are any data or findings presented supported by credible sources?
  • Performance during Q&A Session (10 points): Does the presenter respond confidently and effectively to questions from the audience? Are the responses to questions clear, concise, and relevant? Does the presenter demonstrate an ability to think critically and apply their knowledge to address questions?
  • Overall Impression (10 points): Overall, how effective was the presentation in conveying the importance and relevance of the topic? Did the presenter effectively communicate the significance of their research or findings? How memorable and impactful was the presentation?
