WIE Student Branch at UniMelb

The Wie Affinity Group of the Student Branch aims to support and encourage young students to pursue careers in the field of science and engineering through activities and the execution of projects, meetings and conferences. Within its main activities are the organization and participation in talks, generation of knowledge through research, development and implementation framed in new technologies. The student branches of the IEEE are a meeting point to address more in the world of engineering, while knowing people with whom they share the same interests.

Chair: Yushan Hou

Yushan is a third-year PhD student in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Melbourne. Previously, she received an MSc degree from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Before that, she used to work as an architecture electrical engineer for 2.5 years. Now she is focusing on increasing the DER hosting capacity of unbalanced LV networks using last-mile voltage control.

 


Nour Wahba

I am Nour Wahba, a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in the infrastructure engineering department. My research interests are mechanical building services, energy modeling, and building simulation. I have worked as a graduate mechanical engineer and BIM modeler. I am from Egypt and I am passionate about arts, crafts, cooking, exploring cuisines, and traveling.

 


Lili ChenLili Chen 的个人档案照片

Lili Chen received her Bachelor of Engineering degree with distinction in Measuring & Control Technology from the USTB, China in 2018. She then completed her Master’s degree with distinction in Electrical Engineering at the University of Melbourne in 2021. She was awarded a Melbourne Research Scholarship and for her PhD and her current research is focused on machine learning aided resource management in wireless communications. Outside the research, she likes watching the footy.

 


Arianna Xiao

Xiuqi (Arianna) Xiao is a penultimate-year Master of Chemical Engineering student, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Systems from University of Melbourne. She currently serves as the Treasurer for the club with a passion to empower fellow women in STEM by encouraging and facilitating meaningful conversations and experiences. In her free time, she finds joy and relaxation in crocheting and food.

Civil Engineering Student
Worked in allied health industry. Currently undergoing a career change, and studying Master of Civl Engineering at the University of Melbourne.

Yuxin Ren holds a Bachelor of Engineering Management from XJTU in China and is currently studying Software Engineering at the University of Melbourne for her Masters. She is currently the Website master of the club and is passionate about working with women engineers to pass on their experiences through positive and meaningful conversations. In her spare time, she is keen on fitness and cooking.
