Event Overview

IEEE student branch representatives from pre final year and second year volunteers organized an introductory meeting for the newly admitted first year students .
The meeting began with the introduction of all the current IEEE members present. The discussion then proceeded with the members introducing the organization IEEE and about various opportunities and benefits associated with it. The discussion concluded with description of the IEEE GBPIET student branch its and various activities and future plans . Total 82 students from ECE, EE, and BT branch attended the meet

SIH Internal Hackathon 2024

The SIH Internal Hackathon 2024 was organized by the IEEE Student Branch GBPIET, as a 2 day programme. There were total 24 teams from the college registered for the internal hackathon. The hackathon was scheduled from September 4th to September 5th. It started at 10:00 am wherein teams were to present their PowerPoint presentations.
The teams were already made aware of the rules and regulations to be followed. The judges from different field of expertise were present. After each presentation, the judges asked questions related to the problem statement and the project domains chosen. Simultaneously, the teams were awarded marks according to the specified judging criteria. The participating teams then awaited for the results which were released on September 6th.

Workshop on BASIC ELECTRONICS COMPONENTS

IEEE Student Branch (ECE) organized an informative workshop on “Basic Electronics Components.”

The session began with the Power Point presentation and explanation of Basic Electronics Components like resistors, transistors, capacitors, sensors, etc. and how they are the fundamental elements of any circuits or system. Hand on experience of the components was given to each individual present there and also explained its working. Doubts were cleared by the experts.

A special project was demonstrated to the students. Students were really fascinated by it.

The session was hosted by Master Vinay Kathait. Master Aditya Raj Haldiya served as expert to clarify the doubts. Master Yogesh Bisht and Master Akhil Kothari presented their project. Master Jay presented the electronics components. Majorly, the students from ECE 1st yr. served as the attendees.

Interview for IEEE Recruitment (“Empowering Innovation, Connecting Minds”)

The session began with the members introducing themselves and their desired posts . There was a briefing about the various positions and their significance in efficient functioning of the club . The students were then asked to introduce themselves in a paper and mention their desired position, their skillset and why they are suitable for the position .

Following were the Interview Highlights:-

• The first round of interview began and the candidates were sent to the interview panel in groups of 4. They were asked about the desired position as and how they would contribute towards club .

• The second round of interview began and the students had to compete with their peers for the position and had to differentiate themselves from the other members to grab the position they were aiming at.

• Queries were resolved of the candidates and feedbacks about their performance were given by the Core Team.

CONCLUSIONS: Overall, the event was a success. We had good strength of the attendees. Great response was recorded and it was a healthy interactive session. Results of the Recruitment session are to be disclosed soon.

IEEE Student Branch (ECE) organized an engaging and enlightening event to introduce IEEE organization, its benefits, functioning and the reason for joining the same.
The event began with a comprehensive introduction to IEEE, outlining its global presence, diverse membership and the various technical fields it encompasses. PowerPoint presentation was presented to explain it better. Various social media handles and websites were made introduced to the students.
The positions were also discussed with the students that would allow them to actively contribute to the IEEE community, shaping their identity as a future Engineers and Technologists. Master Abhishekh Lakhera (Chairperson), Master Parth Uniyal (Secretary) and other IEEE members also co visited the event and enlightened the students with their remarkable words. IEEE Outreach Event Report - IoT Home Automation Workshop at Government School

The IEEE outreach event held at Government Primary School Ghurdauri , a government school in Ghurdauri, on [1/11/2023] , was a resounding success. The event aimed to introduce students to the world of IoT (Internet of Things) home automation through hands-on projects and interactive sessions. The participants were engaged, motivated, and left with a better understanding of the potential of IoT technology.
The IEEE outreach event at Government Primary School Ghurdauri focused on educating students about IoT home automation. The event was organized by the GBPIET Student Teacher branch of IEEE, with a dedicated team of volunteers who worked tirelessly to make it a memorable experience for the students.

Initiative in the field of social welfare by Ghurdauri Engineering College

Since last one-year, various works are being done for social welfare by Ghurdauri Engineering College. To do this regularly, Teachers are being continuously encouraged by the director of the college Dr. V.N Kala. Various programs have been organized by the college teachers for the upliftment of the students of Ghurdauri Junior School.
In this regard, on 21-09-2023, the college teachers distributed reading material among all the students of the school and gave guidance for the bright future of the students. On this occasion Prof. Sanjay Gairola, Dr. K. S. Bhatia, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Mr. Pushkar Praveen, Dr. Ajay Kumar and teachers of the school were present. This program is organized by the college through I.E.E.E. It is being run under the Branch Chapter, in which the students of the school are trained to hone their talent in various fields. College Director Dr. V.N. Kala has assured to provide all possible assistance in the welfare work being done in the education sector.
 

Nurturing Innovation and Insight-Think Tank Session

On Saturday, August26, 2023, IEEE Student Chapter hosted an engaging and enlightening event to introduce IEEE organization, its benefits, functioning, and the reasons for joining among the students.

The event began with a comprehensive introduction to IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), outlining its global presence, diverse membership, and the various technical fields it encompasses. Emphasis was placed on the benefits of IEEE membership, including access to cutting-edge research, networking opportunities, workshops, conferences, and career development resources.
The highlight of the event was the interactive Think Tank session, where students were encouraged to share their views and ideas on innovation and invention . The Think Tank session not only provided a space for intellectual discourse but also highlighted the student's potential to drive positive change through innovative ideas.

Online International Conference on Smart Machine Intelligence and Real-Time Computing (SMART COM 2020)

Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and Electrical Engineering , GBPIET Pauri collectively has organized an Online International Conference on “Smart Machine Intelligence and Real-Time Computing” sponsored by TEQIP-3 during June 26-27, 2020. The conference was focused on the frontier topics in the field of smart machine intelligence, real-time computing and related fields. SMART COM 2020 was organized with a vision to address the various issues to promote the creation of intelligent solutions in future. The conference provided an exceptional platform to the researchers to discuss the practical solutions, scientific results and methods in solving intriguing problems with people who were actively involved in emerging research fields. A total of 151 research papers were accepted out of which 116 research papers were accepted and presented in this conference.

Industrial Training on "Current Industry Scenario"

An online Industrial Training was conducted by Electronics & Communication Engineering Department, GBPIET Pauri from July 29 to August 9, 2020. A total of around 100 students have participated in this live webinar that was delivered by various highly qualified and experienced professionals. The primary agenda of the training is to give students a glimpse of latest trends in industry, business process management, current industry work culture, innovation in IT and Core sector. Experts also provided the valuable tips to students for accelerating career in respective industry.

Workshop on “Optisystem Fundamentals and Design Techniques”

Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, GBPIET Pauri has organized an online workshop on “Optisystem Fundamentals and Design Techniques ” sponsored by TEQIP-3 during on September 14 to16th, 2020. The primary aim of the workshop is to provide a first hand experience on designing and the simulations of optical links in modern optical networks.
The workshop, attended by the students of third and fourth year was open to all and received an active participation from the students of all branches. It began on 14th Sep with leading expert Mr. Amandeep Singh form HR Universal System Inc. introducing everyone about the software, it's uses and how to get started. He used interactive examples to relate basic theory concepts such as digital communication modulation techniques like QPSK, FSK etc.
The workshop was organized in three sessions of two hours each, with intervening general discussion and Q&A to ensure better understand of the information shared at each session. In the last session, a special satellite communication project was described to the students which included using all the knowledge utilization imbibed by the students over the course of all the workshop sessions .The entire program co-ordinated with the support and contributions of the Principal, faculty and the students was a success.

Hands-on Workshop on "MATLAB and Data Science using Python"

Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering , GBPIET has organized a hands on online workshop on "MATLAB and Data Science using Python" from sept. 21 to sept. 25 2020.
Dr. Tapan Kr Jain from IIIT , Nagpur being as speaker conduct 3 sessions on MATLAB which is later taken on by Dr. Pooja Jain IIIT , Nagpur and she delivered her lectures on data science using python. Dr. Tapan made sure that every attendee has a fair amount of knowledge about MATLAB and how MATLAB can act as a very powerful tool to enhance the computing experience by using some simple inbuilt tools as well as by some programming.
Dr. Pooja introduced the learner to the basics of the python programming environment, including fundamental python programming techniques such as lambdas, reading and manipulating csv files, and the numpy library. She also told about data manipulation and cleaning techniques using the popular python pandas data science library and introduced the abstraction of the Series and Data Frame as the central data structures for data analysis.

Webinar on “Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)”

Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, GBPIET has organized a webinar on “ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS (ADAS)” on 27th September 2022. Industry expert Mr. Shashank Shekar from Netradyne, being as speaker who conducted this webinar. Mr. Shashank Shekar is an alumni of GBPIET.

He has completed his bachelors of technology from ECE in 2013. He has a total 9+ years of experience in various companies including Broadcom, Micromax and Netradyne. Mr. Shashank Shekhar introduced the learner to the basics of the ADAS environment, including fundamental use of its features in the modern-day cars which include fleet tracking, driver safety, insurance industry, 3D mapping of roads and data for autonomous vehicle testing / simulation.

He also told us about the various opportunities in the field of electronics and communication engineering. This session was a success only because of support of Mr. Pushkar Praveen and Dr. K.S. Bhatia.

Training and e- content development programme on “python programming"

This training programme was conducted by “PDPM INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, DESIGN AND MANUAFACTURING, JABALPUR, INDIA” on python programming. The training started on 15th of September and the inauguration was done by our honourable Dean Academics Dr. A.K Gautam. This training was specially conducted to empower girls to reduce gender gap in IT sector and its sectors in south Asia region. The training was conducted on 15th – 17th & 22nd – 24th September 2022 and a quiz was taken on 17th & 24th September 2022 to evaluate the participant’s progress. In this training programme students learned the essentials of python programming which included knowledge of data types, conditional statements, error handling and received an in- depth knowledge in machine learning, and data visualization. In this training programme 1000 participants were registered from different parts of the world. It was indeed an informative training and students learnt a lot from it. This training programme has been completed on 24th September 2022, and was a successful event only because of the support of Dr. K. S. Bhatia, Dr. A.R. Verma and Mr. Pushkar Praveen.

Webinar on “Future Outlook of Grid Compliance for Wind Turbines and Wind Power Plants”

he webinar was held on 19th October, 2022; Wednesday. It was held in an online mode via MS-teams. This webinar was conducted by the IEEE GBPIET students branch. The speaker of the webinar was Gabriel Miguel Gomes Guerreiro, from the IndustrialPhD. Department of Wind Energy, Technical University of Denmark (DTU). A total of 120-150 students registered their presence in the webinar along with a few faculty members. Through the webinar we learnt about the various future outlooks and innovations inthe field of energy generation with the use of wind energy, the growth in the energyproduction via bringing wind energy into action.

Webinar on “Carbon-Aware Computing @Google and Beyond”

The webinar was conducted on 1st December,2022; Thursday. The webinar was conducted in an online mode via MS-Teams. The speaker for the webinar was Ana Radovanovic, she holds PhD. Degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. In the end of the webinar, we came to learn about the basic idea of carbon-aware computing. Its effect in the past few years. We came to know about the goal of google to reduce their carbon footprint. About its consequences and mythos to reduce it.

Webinar on “Exposure for Beginners: Journey from Electrons to Photons Past, Present, and Future”

The webinar was conducted on 13th may,2022 during 3:00 to 4:00 pm in an online mode via MS-Teams. On the occasion of International Light Day 2022, contributing to Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the 75 th Anniversary of Indian Independence. The speaker for the webinar was Dr. Rikmantra Basu, he is a faculty at NIT Delhi. The event was enlightened by the presence of many faculty and IEEE members along with many curious students. By the end of the event we learnt about the past origin, the present scenario and the thoughtful future of the Journey from Electrons to Photons. The event was very enlightening and warming for the students, looking forward for more such programmes.
