PAST EDITIONS
2023
We are thrilled to share the highlights of Poster Week 2023 Edition, an annual event that showcases the scientific and academic endeavors of researchers and research laboratories at the Department of Industrial and Information Engineering. This year’s event, held from November 21st to December 1st, exceeded expectations with a record-breaking number of participants and outstanding contributions.
Poster Week witnessed an impressive increase in community engagement, as evidenced by the submission of 43 posters, divided into 30 research posters and 13 laboratory posters. The event has been gaining momentum over the years, as compared to the 38 posters submitted in the previous edition. In response to the overwhelming response, the posters were divided into two groups, with each group being exhibited for one week at the entrance of the Faculty of Engineering “La Nave”.
To foster academic exchange and discourse, a dedicated day of presentations was organized on December 1st. The speakers, including PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and researchers, had the opportunity to provide brief overviews of their posters to the academic community. The audience present during the event had the privilege of selecting the best presentation.
Both the posters and presentations were subjected to a voting process. A total of more than 200 voters, including undergraduate and graduate students, doctoral candidates, researchers, and professors, expressed their preferences through an active QR code throughout the two-week exhibition period. This ensured a fair and inclusive selection process.
It is with great pleasure that we announce the winners of this year’s Poster Week awards.
- Best Laboratory Poster: Neuroimaging and Brain Modeling Laboratory
- Best Research Posters – first place: Göekçe Korkmaz, with the poster entitled “The Cerebellum Drives NonLinear fMRI Responses Differently in Action Execution Compared to Action Observation”
- Best Research Posters – second place: Elena Grosso, with the poster entitled “Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping and χ-separation method: how MRI can help us understanding COVID19”
- Best Research Posters – third place: Lorenzo Peracchio, with the poster entitled “Evaluation of Machine Learning Predictions’ Reliability with generative models: towards Trustworthy AI”
- Best Presentation: Irene Bassi, with the poster entitled “The sound of light: development of a compact and cost-effective photoacoustic computed tomography system for breast cancer imaging”
Furthermore, all participants were graciously presented with a commemorative gadget as a token of appreciation for their contributions.
The success of Poster Week 2023 Edition was evident in its achievement of the primary objective: informing students about the diverse research activities taking place within the department. Participants found this edition to be highly stimulating, as it showcased the high quality and diverse range of content presented by researchers and laboratories.
We extend our sincere congratulations to the winners and our heartfelt appreciation to all participants, whose valuable contributions made Poster Week 2023 Edition an exceptional event. We look forward to the continued growth and success of this enlightening platform in the years to come.
