Driving Inclusivity, Innovation, and a Bold Vision for the Future
The IEEE Computer Society Student Chapter at the University of Greater Manchester, Bolton has ushered in a new era of leadership with the recent election of its 2025 executive officers. With a strong commitment to inclusivity, innovation, and academic excellence, the newly elected team is poised to elevate the chapter to greater heights.

The election took place in a lively, engaging session filled with energy, vision-sharing, and a renewed commitment to the mission of the IEEE Computer Society. These student leaders bring a dynamic mix of experience, diversity, and a passion for digital transformation, inclusivity, and student engagement.  Prof. Celestine Iwendi, the IEEE University of Greater Manchester Branch Counsellor and globally recognised Professor of Artificial Intelligence, addressed the chapter, offering words of encouragement and guidance. He urged the new officers to lead with integrity, vision, and purpose, highlighting the importance of student-led innovation in shaping the future of computing. “Leadership is not about titles, but about service. Let your journey be one of influence, impact, and inclusion,” Prof. Iwendi admonished.
In her acceptance speech, Oluwadarasimi Kalejaye, the newly elected Chair, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to serve. “I am deeply honoured and humbled by this responsibility. I promise to serve faithfully and foster a thriving environment where every member finds their voice, contributes meaningfully, and grows in both technical and leadership capacity.”
Under this new leadership, the chapter has already signalled plans for a more inclusive and impactful year — including AI workshops, hackathons, cross-university collaborations, and targeted events to support underrepresented groups in computing. She also accepts to work together with the current IEEE University of Manchester Chair,  Okafor Lovely Anna. As they take the baton, the new executive team carries with them not just titles, but a collective resolve to shape the next generation of computing professionals.
