Leaving Message from Chair of WIE Northumbria Affinity Group

IEEE Northumbria Executive Committee Member and Chair of WIE Northumbria Affinity Group, Geetika Aggarwal left the branch after nearly 3 years of being part of its committee members. Geetika had been done a great work and this was obvious during her involving in the events mentioned in the letter she sent to the new committee members.

Check out the full letter below.

Friends and Colleagues,

I am emotional on my leave after being with the branch for so long and have worked with many committee members during nearly 3 years.

The journey with the branch was a roller coaster in the first year, but took speed by the end of 2017 when organised the first “Women in Research” event at Northumbria University. Thereafter, I have worked actively in organising events like the Fresher’s Fair 2017IEEE Day, Christmas Social, Unconscious Gender Bias Workshop, and the International Women’s Day.

Before giving the handover to the new 2018/2019 committee, I was the guest speaker at the International Women in Engineering Day organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

It was great that hard work was recognised as I won Northumbria’s Annual Awards 2018 in the category of “Contribution to Students’ Academic Experience” along with the Education Awards 2018 in the category “Liberating the Curriculum”.

I have made some wonderful memories and will cherish them forever.

I acknowledge the support of Kristen MacCartney (IEEE Senior University Partnership Program Manager), Paul Henriques (IEEE Client Services Manager),
Julia Stockdale (Sales Manager, Content Online), Mags Van Der Esch (National Account Manager, Content Online), Prof. Krishna Busawon (IEEE branch counsellor, Northumbria University) and all the respective committee members of IEEE student branch and IEEE-WIE Northumbria Affinity Group. I am grateful to my supervisory team especially principal supervisor, Dr. Xuewu (Daniel) Dai for his kind support always.

I wish everyone Good Luck in your future endeavours!

Keep in touch. I am happy to help and guide the new committee based on my experience. Please, do not hesitate to contact me at anytime. My email addresses are: geetika.aggarwal@northumbria.ac.uk, and geetikaaggarwal10@gmail.com

Best Wishes!
Geetika

The IEEE NSB Executive Committee wishing you all the best of luck in your doctoral study and all your future endeavors.
